I hold the Chair in Information Systems at Cranfield School of Management where I am also Director of the Information Systems Research Centre and the IT Leadership Forum. I am also Adjunct Professor at the University of South Australia. Over the years I have held academic appointments at Loughborough University (UK), Trinity College Dublin (Ireland), Groningen University (The Netherlands), and the University of Sydney (Australia). The focus of my research and teaching is in the area of information systems and technology strategy and management. I have published widely in academic and general business and management journals. My most recent books include Strategic Planning for Information Systems (Wiley, 2002) and Customer Relationship Management: Perspectives from the Marketplace (Butterworth-Heinemann, 2003). My book The Essence of Business Process Re-engineering (Prentice-Hall), originally published in the mid-1990s, has recently been translated into Chinese, having already appeared in Spanish and Polish editions. I am also European Editor of the Journal of Information Technology and an Editorial Board Member of European Management Journal. My consulting work is focused on advising organisations on IT and strategy related matters and how to unlock business value from their IT investments. I also work with a number of technology companies helping them with their strategy, market positioning and growth. I am Chairman of Fineos Corporation, a solutions provider to the global financial services industry and a Director of IT Alliance Group, an IT outsourcing provider.
