Application and research proposal

An application form may be downloaded from the website (see below) or a paper copy requested by using the information request form (see How to Contact Us).

You must enclose a Research Proposal (approximately 2000 words) which sets out:

  • the management issue or problem to be addressed
  • the question(s) to be addressed
  • what literature might provide a theoretical background
  • the data to be collected, and how it will be analysed
  • who will benefit from the research
  • your previous experience of research
  • what are your career aspirations

Applications cannot be considered without a research proposal. We do not expect this to be fully-formed at this stage. However, a proposal structured around the issues above will help potential supervisors evaluate your application and, if you are shortlisted, will make the interview more focused.

Please note that you may be asked, at the application stage, to change your project to one which would provide a better fit with the research interests of the relevant Research Centre.

References

You should nominate two referees in support of your application. At least one should, ideally, be from an academic source.
