Where is Cranfield?

Situated mid-way between Oxford and Cambridge, the village of Cranfield is close to thriving Milton Keynes, a new town with one of the largest covered shopping centres in Europe, and the historic riverside town of Bedford. Both have coach and train stations.

What is the difference between a full time and executive (part-time) programme?

Our full-time programmes, have a duration of 11 months and begin at the end of September each year.

Our executive (part time) programmes are between two or three years in duration and require the applicant to attend and complete each and every residential module.The part-time modular format enables you to study for your MSc as you continue your career.

Do you offer on-line and/or distance learning?

We do not offer on-line/distance learning or exemptions for any of our MSc programmes. You will be required to come onto campus and complete the programme in its entirety.

Are your programmes ranked?

Specialist MSc programmes are not currently included in the business school polls/rankings, however Cranfield School of Management is included in the Combined Rankings

Am I eligible for my programme of choice?

To enable us to advise on your eligibility for the programme, could you please confirm:

  • the full title of your degree
  • the name of the awarding institution
  • the start/end dates of the course and the date you graduated
  • In addition, please provide details of any post-qualification work experience to date

Am I eligible to apply for an executive (part-time) programme?

To enable us to advise on your eligibility for the programme, please feel free to attach a short CV by return e-mail to: elena.varricchio@cranfield.ac.uk, outlining your academic and professional background, which will be reviewed by the Programme Director.

Is there an application deadline?

We now have an application deadline for the 2009 full time programmes.Please note that the deadlines for applicants from outside the EU is 31st July 2009.

For our Executive MSc in Programme and Project Management, we should receive non MOD applications by 9th November 2009.

Is there an application fee?

Please note, we do not charge an application fee to process your application.

Can I apply for two programmes at once?

Within your application, you will be required to include your 1st and 2nd choices of which programmes you would like to study.

If you are successful in your application for your 1st choice, your application will not be forwarded to your 2nd choice.However, if you are unsuccessful in your 1st choice, your application will be forwarded to your 2nd choice for consideration.

Do I need to take GMAT?

GMAT (Graduate Management Admissions Test) is a computer-adaptive test that is available, year-round, at test centres throughout the world. The GMAT measures basic verbal, mathematical and analytical writing skills. Further details can be obtained on the website:www.mba.com. Training courses are available and POWERPREP software can be downloaded from the website to familiarise yourself with the kinds of questions asked on the test. A balanced score of at least 550 is required.

If your degree is not equivalent to a UK Honours Degree 2:2 or above, GMAT may be required.Having taken into consideration all your application details the Programme Director may still require you to undertake the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) and obtain a minimum score of 550 with analytical writing of 4.0.

GMAT is a decision which is made solely by the Programme Director.

You will be required to take the GMAT test if you have not graduated from one of our listed universities – please click here to view the list of universities.

Will I need to take an English language test?

IELTS/TOEFL is required if your native language is not English and/or if you are unable to provide evidence (usually a letter from your University) stating that you have studied in English Language at higher education level.

It is possible for you to submit an application prior to taking IELTS/TOEFL.

If you are successful in your application and are offered a place on the programme, this will be subject to you meeting all our minimum entry requirements.Our Admissions Team will be able to advise you further once they are in receipt of your fully completed application.

Each application will be assessed on it's individual merit.

Entry requirements for English Language Tests:

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
– a minimum score of 92 internet test, 237 computer test or 580 paper test is required (please note: if you take the paper test you must also complete the test of written English and gain a minimum score of 4.0).

International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
– band 6.5 is required, with writing of 6.0.

English for Speakers of other languages (ESOL)
either:

  1. Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) – grade A – C
  2. Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) – grade C or above

What if I do not have a first degree?

If you do not have a first degree, you would not necessarily be excluded from applying for your programme of choice.

If you have a significant amount of relevant work experience, you may still be eligible to apply. Please feel free to e-mail the Admissions contact for your programme of choice, for further information and/or clarification.

Do I need relevant post-qualification work experience to be eligible to apply for a full-time programme?

Please note some applicants for this programme will have post-qualification relevant work experience while others may not.

The Programme Director will assess each application for it's individual merit.

Who should my References be from?

Ideally, we ask for at least one Reference to be academic. If, however, you have been away from academia for a number of years and this is no longer possible, we may accept two professional References.

How can I send my supportive documents?

It is now possible to attach your supporting documents to the on-line application. References should be on official letter headed paper and signed by the writer.

Please note, if you are successful in your application and offered a place on the programme, you will be required to provide the originals either before or on the day of Registration.

The stages of an application

  • application submitted, preferably on-line
  • the complete application (including all supportive documentation) is processed in approximately 4-6 weeks of receipt
  • the applicant is contacted and advised whether the application has been successful
  • iIf the applicant has been successful, an offer letter will be distributed within approximately 2 weeks.
  • the offer letter will then advise the applicant they have 6 weeks to confirm their place on the programme and pay the deposit.
  • the remaining amount of the tuition fees is then due before completing the programme

A variety of accommodation is available on campus, from single rooms (with or without a meal plan) to homes for those with partners or families.Living on campus is a great way of being close to your studies, making new friends and taking advantage of all campus facilities.

Cranfield is an ideal location to bring your partner or family. Close to all the amenities in Milton Keynes, and has the benefits of outdoor life in the country. There are playgroup facilities onsite and schools in the local area for children of all ages.

Can I come to an Open Day?

To gain a real feel for studying at Cranfield please come and visit us. We host a number of open days throughout the year – a great opportunity to visit and meet our faculty, students and staff.

Can I be put in touch with someone whom has already completed the programme?

If you would like to make contact with a member of our Alumni, who can share their experiences of studying at Cranfield, please attach a short CV, outlining your programme of interest, to elena.varricchio@cranfield.ac.uk
