The need for ambitious owner managers to work ON their business as well as in it - or, to put it another way, to make the transition from Hero to Strategist - is one of the core ideas of BGP. This article in the FT describes the concept of Heroes and Meddlers and features three BGP past participants who are dealing with their hero tendencies in different ways: Guy Chatburn of Send Marketing (BGP 2008), Alex Smith of Alara (BGP 2006) and David Macken of Systems Associates (BGP 2007).
