After graduating from Cambridge, Sam spent a number of years in the computer industry before returning to Birmingham for a Masters degree in Operations Research. He then went to work for Coopers & Lybrand as manager of their Operations Research Group before moving across to the Supply Chain Group where he specialised in Process Improvement and Systems Implementation in Supply Chain Management and Advanced Planning Systems often in conjunction with ERP or APS implementations. He has a record of successful on time implementation of procedure and systems change within a wide variety of both multinational and smaller companies that has delivered major business benefits mainly in terms of improved effectiveness and working capital reduction.
Sam became associated with Cranfield School of Management in 1987 when he was teaching courses on MRPII and since then has jointly developed a number of courses for the School in areas such as Demand Planning, Forecasting, Inventory Planning and Optimisation and Supply Chain networks and is a certified trainer for the Fresh Connection.
Sam spends a considerable portion of his time consulting to commercial organisations in his areas of specialism. His most recent projects have been related to pan-European Supply Chain Management with Levi Strauss (Brussels) and Demand Planning with SAP for Syngenta Seeds (Basel).
