Assessment and Development Centres
We have extensive experience of designing bespoke assessment events for clients, with a timetable that is tailored to the organisation’s specific needs and incorporating exercises that are developed to test the particular competencies and behaviours relevant to the organisation’s success.
Increasingly our clients are using a development centre as a ‘stocktake’ at the start of a programme of development, to:
- increase individual commitment to their development
- give focus to any coaching and
- provide further clarity re the content design of future modules.
We are able to deliver centres internationally incorporating a range of language and cultural requirements.
The essential elements of a Cranfield Assessment/Development Centre:
- An underlying competency framework which is contextually appropriate for the organisation
- A series of relevant and highly engaging exercises to measure behaviours against this competency framework
- As a minimum we would recommend 2 days for a Centre, however we can be flexible according to your needs
- A 2:1 participant/assessor ratio
- Between 12 and 24 participants
- Pre-centre questionnaires such as 360◦ feedback and psychometric profiling
- For development centres each participant has a 1:1 feedback coaching session of 1½ - 2 hours, resulting in an agreed understanding of the individual’s strengths and development needs, and an agreed action plan for their personal development
- Individual and Organisation reports 3 weeks after the centre
- Implementation coaching on receipt of the report and typically two subsequent coaching sessions.
A best-practice approach
At the core of our approach is the philosophy that effective development begins with an objective, relevant and engaging assessment process. Our assessments are always conducted by qualified Occupational Psychologists, with more than 10 years post-qualification experience in the business environment.
We work to the Best practice guidelines of the British Psychological society and Cranfield University’s ethical code of conduct.
Cranfield is completely independent of all test publishers and we can choose from the full range of commercially available psychometric instruments and assessment exercises. We continually scan the market to ensure that we can provide clients with the most appropriate and up to date assessment tools and services.
Cranfield’s Assessment and Development Service is run by a dedicated team of professionals supported by an associate team of senior occupational psychologists, working in conjunction with the CCED occupational psychologists and a School wide Psychometric Committee.
