What do we do?

Networked Learning

Why Networked Learning?

Cranfield are experts in making sense of the rise of social networking technology on programmes of executive education.  The term we use to describe our approach is ‘networked learning’, which as it suggests, uses technologies to link learners, and to link learners to learning resources – all of which are essential processes in our world-class programmes.

Networked learning uses a range of contemporary technologies, and for the purposes of a programme of executive education we house these technologies inside a ‘portal’.  We then use a banding of portals to make sense of our offering in this area.

How we use Portals?

Mostly using Microsoft SharePoint software, hosted on Cranfield’s servers, our secure portals are customised for your company.  All forms of networked learning appropriate to your CCED programme are contained on this customised portal.

Portals, and their networked learning content, are priced in three bands: basic, medium and high.

  • Basic - contains all programme administration and logistics, programme materials, participant directory and all contact information.
  • Medium - as per ‘basic’ with: e-learning elements; video message from client sponsor; multiple dedicated project teamsites; facilitated webinar sessions.
  • High - as per ‘medium’ with: higher level of customisation; selected Knowledge Interchange content; bespoke e-learning; multiple client sponsor videos; participant video diaries; participant learning blogs; on-demand webinars; alternative content-delivery versions; links to social media; usage reporting.

What Types of Networked Learning are Appropriate?

If your networked learning is intended to support a CCED programme, the answer to this question will depend on your budget and on the outcome of a series of conversations between you, one of our Executive Development Directors and our Networked Learning Director.

If you are considering a networked learning approach outside of a CCED programme, our expertise in matching world-class customised executive education with the most appropriate technology is a good place to start. Contact us for details.
