Practices in programme and project management (PPM) have been based on the notion of "one size fits all", but the limitations of this have become apparent.
Maturity models frequently focus on conformance to a common set of approaches and processes (accepted practice). Such normalisation brings limited business benefits and is absent in organisations that are truly world-class. Contextual intelligence – the knowledge of what works where – is what is really needed. Next the resources of an organisation and its supply chain must be configured and developed to meet the needs of a particular client and context.
