Case studies

"This is a great time to reflect on yourself and think about how you can make a real, positive impact to the business and wider life.”
Seonaid Crosby, Finance Manager, Scottish Futures Trust

“Reflecting on the programme, you realise that it equips you with all those skills that you needed, not just to go back into the business, but also to go back into life itself and look at things differently and have positive conversations.
Ed Walker, Audience and Content Director (Regionals), Reach plc

When I came out of Cranfield, I felt like I had a kind of grounding of knowledge, a good platform to build on in terms of how I deal with people, how I add value to the business, recognising that and also being critical of myself, but in a constructive way.
Jon Birchall, Audience and Content Director (Sport), Reach plc

I can't overemphasise how important it's been for my career. I very quickly within a year of joining my current business was promoted to the role of General Manager to run the business. And I'm completely sure that would not have happened, were it not for the skill set that I was able to develop at Cranfield and the fact that I actually took the time to implement the skills and techniques that I learned at Cranfield in my business.
Craig Moffat, General Manager at British Pullman, a Belmond Train

Structure

Cranfield Talent Development Programme

This programme gives you the opportunity to work on the key elements of developing your business expertise and leadership capabilities in tandem and iteratively throughout the 12 months.

Module outlines

Module one – Introduction and coaching, online (approximately 8 hours to complete)

This module includes orientation of the programme, introductions and content consumption. You will also start you coaching sessions with one of our highly experienced coaches.

Applying your learning through a business simulation during modules one and two will allow you to put your knowledge into action to really understand how organisations operate.

Module two - Awareness and development of business leadership skills, face to face (5 days residential)

The second module focuses on blending professional development and personal growth. Building on your learning from module one, you will develop a wider business perspective and a clearer strategic understanding. Deepening your understanding of self, stakeholders and business functions will allow you to contribute more effectively, bringing greater value to your organisation and providing you with the building blocks of essential business knowledge and personal development.

You will also identify a strategic business issue that you will work on throughout the rest of the programme.

Module three – Awareness and development of organisational and interpersonal leadership skills, face to face (5 days residential)

This module focuses on redrawing the boundaries of your influence to enable you to; work beyond your preferred routines and comfort zone; inspire change across the business, outside of your normal area of expertise and authority; build relationships up, down, across and outside of your business; and work through differing functional interests and priorities to create commitment to action across the business.

You will also formulate a three-month development action plan and engage in reflective discussions throughout the module.

6 month progress review day, online or face to face (one day)

Three months after you complete module three, we invite you to review the progress you have made against your action plans, reflecting with faculty and peers on what has been learnt. You’ll be able to use the learnings as a platform to formulate ambitious development targets in light of your achievements to date.

12 month progress review day, online or face to face (one day)

To support your continuing development, we invite you to take stock of your leadership development journey; to reflect on the long-term impact of your development on you and your businesses. We’ll also support you in managing your personal development and to plan the next phase of your leadership career.
