Research

Research helps us generate knowledge on how innovation can be more effectively managed. There are a range of topics where we are active, or have projects planned and we welcome interest from both organizations that face these issues and from potential doctoral students:

  1. Innovation Management - The Leadership Role of the CEO: this research is focused on the steps that senior managers need to take to make their organizations more innovative.
  2. Innovation in Services: we are looking at the specific challenges faced by service companies.
  3. Beyond the Voice of the Customer: is looking at new methods for conducting market research, which give insights into how customers and users think.
  4. The Role of Aesthetic Design: the look, feel and usability of products need to be considered during new product development and this is a challenge.
  5. Prioritizing the Innovation Project Portfolio: innovation projects are uncertain and risky by nature and so companies need to choose the right projects. But how?
  6. Creating a Culture of Innovation: many organizations are dissatisfied and looking for how they can develop dynamic culture where innovation is the norm
  7. The Unofficial Methods of Innovation: is looking at how part of the innovation process is often carried out unofficially and independently by motivated employees.
  8. Learning and Knowledge Management in NPD: in no area of a company is learning and knowledge management as important as in new product development.
