Women in the City Future Leaders Award 2011
The Future Leaders Award has been designed to recognise the achievements and potential of fast track women in the early stages of their career. The winner of the award will be someone exceptional.
The second winner of the Women in the City Future Leaders Award was Leire Jimenez of MAPFRE ASSISTANCE. The award ceremony took place on 7 July 2011 at Barclays, Canary Wharf.
The winners prize is sponsored by Barclays Wealth and Cranfield University General Management Programmes Group. Leire receives a place on the prestigious Cranfield Accelerated Talent Development Programme.
Leire said “these awards are hugely important for encouraging women to strive to reach their career potential and become leaders in their respective industries. I’m sure this award and the Cranfield programme will be a great help in enabling me to do that".
The judging panel, chaired by Dr Veronica Burke, also includes Amanda Blanc, Axa Commercial, Craig Jones MBE, Brighton and Sussex Care, Mark Palmer-Edgecumbe, Google and Lt Cmdr Mandy McBain, Royal Navy.
Dr Veronica Burke said of Leire “ Leire is a worthy winner and I am confident that the programme will accelerate her potential and enable her to make a significant business impact".

Zeljko Urosevic, Vice President Supply Chain, Carlsberg Breweries A/S
Zeljko attended the Cranfield General Management Programme in February 2005. He needed to widen his understanding of management and his sphere of influence. He was recommended the programme by his line manager. Zeljko, has since gone on to recommend the programme to his team and his replacement since his promotion to Vice President at Carlsberg. On 7 October 2010, a special dinner at Cranfield School of Management was held where the guest speaker was ex Cranfield MBA, Charlie Mayfield, Chairman of John Lewis Partnership.
The event was a great success, with many GMP alumni meeting up with old friends as well as have the opportunity to listen to the JLP perspective on employee engagement. Guests found the event both informative and enjoyable.

Erick Kervaon’s latest high-profile career challenge is to play a key part in ensuring the success of the Waldorf Astoria’s new Syon Park hotel. But, like many people in the catering and hospitality industry, he didn’t have a particularly strong academic record before deciding to come to Cranfield. "I wasn’t very good at school - I got expelled a few times," he says, "and I didn’t go to university, so at this point in my career I thought I would benefit from something a bit more structured. I did some research and looked at a few schools - Lausanne was very catering-oriented, but as that’s what I’ve been doing all my life I thought it would be nice to join people from a wider mix of professions. Andrew Eagles, Managing Director of Sustainable Homes won the Green Social Housing Champion of the Year 2010 award.
The award recognises the contribution to the sector from helpful training courses, resident engagement events, consultancy work and the work of SHIFT, the benchmarking and best practice group.
Andrew said "We are very honoured to receive this award.
