Thomas is Visiting Professor of Supply Chain Management at Cranfield School of Management and Bob Herberger Arizona Heritage Chair at W. P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University. He serves as Director of the Center for Supply Networks (CaSN) whose stated mission is to advance the science of supply chain management. His articles have been published in the Academy of Management Executive, Business Horizons, Decision Sciences, Harvard Business Review, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Journal of Operations Management, Journal of Supply Chain Management, Production and Operations Management, and others. He has received the Best Paper Award from the Journal of Operations Management. He also received other recognitions for his articles in Business Horizons, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, and the Journal of Operations Management. Thomas is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Operations Management , Decision Sciences, Journal of Supply Chain Management and Journal of Operations and Management Research. He is a member of the Editorial Board for the IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management and Production and Operations Management. In addition to this he is on the regular basis involved in research and executive development projects with world class companies, such as; LG Electronics, Samsung, Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Pratt&Whitney, Motorola and BMW, to name just some.
