Why the Executive (part-time) Masters in PPM?
Project management is a central feature of corporate life with enhanced career prospects for individuals capable of delivering successful projects. However, many managers as technical specialists find themselves managing projects without prior training or preparation.
Learning on the job is acceptable for many tasks, but risky when coordinating a myriad of vertical and lateral interactions and activities by employees, contractors and partners. Past examples show the persistence of projects being overspent and overrunning on both public and commercial projects, as well as often failing to deliver their anticipated benefits.
The aim of the Masters in PPM course is to provide you with a rounded curriculum. You will have the time and opportunity to engage, reflect and apply your learning in a safe and supportive environment. Hard concepts and technical project know-how and management principles are carefully balanced with learning how to deal with behavioural and rational effects on project decisions and performance.
You will be more selective in your choice of project methodology and will be able to take a more holistic view on problem-solving to include important in-tangibles such as ethics, governance and stakeholder engagement.
By the end of the course you will find that you can look beyond the iron-triangle of time cost-scope. You will gain the capabilities needed for the implementation of strategic change through project management or programme leadership, whilst gaining an internationally recognised Masters qualification.
"The highlight for me so far is the level of knowledge of our lecturers. They aren’t just academics, they have lived, breathed and delivered and done this before, so they have the gravitas that we can buy into.”
