Biography

My background is mixed having trained in law then spending 12 years in retail management roles, before moving into consultancy in 2003. Having worked for blue chip employers in retail (Scottishpower, Arcadia, Levis and Gap) I now work in Europe’s largest independent human capital consultancy (Mercuri Urval) where I sell and deliver human capital solutions to range of clients in a number of sectors. These include BT, IKEA and Skanska.

Why I chose Cranfield

I chose Cranfield based on the reputation it has for strong business focused academic research with practical outcomes for practitioners. The quality of the staff and the level of service offered to students and researchers was also a significant factor.

Research Issue

Those in the human capital management field are under constant pressure to demonstrate the value they add to organisations. I am looking at this from the perspective of how HRM policies add value to organisations by understanding what the linkages are that deliver this, in particular the role that non-HR managers play in improving the performance of employees and thus add value to an organisation.

Research Methods

The research methodologies will be a mix of methods yet to be confirmed

Theoretical perspective

Human capital management

Employee impacts on organisation through discretionary behaviour.
