Research Issue
There is concern amongst UK industry leaders that there is a lack of professional engineers. (Cassidy, 2009) The number of students studying engineering at university on professionally accredited courses is low, and of those who graduate only twenty nine percent enters the engineering field leading to a decline in the number of chartered engineers (Shephard & Kingston, 2008). Therefore understanding ways in which to reduce voluntary career change and increasing the professional commitment is paramount.
