Background

Transport engineer/planner, Logistics analyst.

Research Topic

A hybrid modelling approach for supply network design under supply and demand uncertainty.

Research Issue

This research proposes a hybrid optimisation and simulation approach for supply network design. The main propose is to optimise a supply network. An optimisation model is applied to find an optimum design, whereas a simulation model is used to emulate an uncertain of supply and demand.

Hybrid approaches may overcome deficiencies in optimisation and simulation methods. An agent-based simulation will be used in this research. The advantage of combining simulation and optimisation is that it overcomes the weaknesses inherent in the conventional approaches; however, the proposed hybrid method allows the strengths to be exploited.

Sector

Supply network design.

Research Methods

Combine optimisation and simulation approach.

Theoretical Perspective

Positivism.
