Cranfield boats
The Regatta is open to all Cranfield School of Management students and their partners. Alumni are also welcome. You will be sailing on Sunsail F40 yachts with qualified skippers.
No prior sailing experience is required.
Cranfield students do not need to apply as complete crews. The Regatta organising team will help to match partial crews and/or individual applicants together to form complete crews and will organise the hiring of Sunsail skippers and first mates if required. Please contact the organising committee for full details. The cost includes:
- charter of Sunsail F40 from 19:00 on 6 July 2012 to 17:00 on 8 July 2012
- rent of up to 7 sets of waterproofs from Sunsail
- food on board for two days
- berthing of yacht in Cowes
- BBQ at Port Solent on Friday 6 July 2012
- Regatta Dinner at Cowes Yacht Haven on Saturday 7 July 2012
- prize giving at Port Solent on Sunday 8 July 2012
- hire of Sunsail skipper and first mate
Crew arrangements are at your discretion. 8 members are required: 6 crew, 1 skipper and 1 first mate. Hire of a Sunsail skipper and first mate is included in the cost however if you wish you may apply to serve in one of these roles as long as you hold the following qualifications:
- the skipper must have sailing experience at least equivalent to RYA Coastal Skipper and 100 miles racing experience (evidence of which must be provided at the time of entry)
- the first mate must have sailing experience to the level of RYA Day Skipper or equivalent
If not using a Sunsail skipper a returnable security deposit of £3,000 per yacht will be required via a credit card impression on the weekend of the Regatta.
In order to qualify as a Cranfield boat, at least 4 crew members must either hold a degree from Cranfield, or be currently studying at Cranfield School of Management.
