Firm performance and corporate political activities
Supervisor: Tazeeb Rajwani PhD MA BSc (Hons)
Within the broad area of firm performance in the political contexts, a number of potential research questions can be identified:
- What is the nature of the relationship between corporate political activities and performance?
- How do resources impact on a firm’s ability to lobby government, to demonstrate dynamic capability and to deliver on key performance measures?
- Do corporate political strategies for firms actually have any impact?
- How do firms develop their corporate political activities to lobby governments?
These potential questions are all focused on the relationship between firm performance and business-government relationships. Dr Rajwani has been studying the role of "Corporate Political Activities" (Lobbying) with particular reference to the Airline industry for the last seven years. He is keen to develop this work further by recruiting a number of capable and enthusiastic PhD students. Although there is no requirement for a specific academic background, qualifications which include management, politics or economics would be particularly relevant.
The specific nature of the projects will be defined in discussion with the prospective candidates.
