The Management of Global Talent

In today’s competitive environment the strategic management of global talent is a business critical issue. The fact that many organisations are now developing complex structures that cross national boundaries makes the management of global talent a challenging task. Given the economic constraints faced by organizations there is a need to efficiently manage global talent, by “working smarter” to ensure a return on the investment in key people.

This programme will enable you to work with current research and leading-edge exemplars of good practice and to situate these within the context of your organisation. This will facilitate your analysis of the current focus and strategy for the management of global talent in your organisation and help you to develop a future strategy for addressing the talent priorities of your company in order to create competitive advantage.

What will I get out of the programme?

You and your organisation will gain:

  • An understanding of how global, regional and industry trends affect the talent pipeline within your organisation
  • An opportunity to consider the vision, strategy and structures appropriate to talent management for your company
  • An appreciation of the needs of diverse talent populations (e.g. different age groups; HIPO and expatriate pools) and how these inform the ability to attract and retain these groups.
  • Case studies of leading edge practice in the management of global talent
  • A consideration of the factors involved in making the trade-off between global and local policies and systems
  • An understanding of the different forms of global mobility; as well as individual and organisational, long and short term perspectives on global career management
  • An opportunity to review the strategic development of effective global leadership
  • An overview of the use of technology in the management of global talent
  • Frameworks for evaluating the management of global talent and examining issues relevant to return on investment.
