Gerard is the programme director and lead designer of the Business Growth and Development Programme (BGP) which is the UK's biggest and best programme for ambitious owner managers of established smaller businesses. In this role, he leads the programme, co-ordinates the overall delivery ensuring that it meets the objectives of all the participants and leads the team of business counsellors who work with participants on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.

Gerard joined the faculty of Cranfield School of Management in 1992, where he ran the Planning Your New Business elective on the Cranfield MBA which helps students with genuine entrepreneurial intentions to start new ventures immediately, or shortly, after their MBA. He has also worked for 12 years as a management consultant with Price Waterhouse and WH Smith.

Gerard is highly entrepreneurial himself and is the founder of Cranfield Creates, which started life as a technology business incubator, providing management services to early stage technology ventures, and then became the technology transfer and commercialisation unit for Cranfield University.

Gerard is also a co-founder of the Business Growth Partnership.
