How to Apply - Step-by-Step

The Cranfield Executive Doctorate is one of the leading international professional doctorates and therefore competition for places is particularly strong. Applications are accepted throughout the year for an annual start date in September.

We welcome early applications for the 2010 programme which commences on 27 September 2010.

Please contact the Programme Manager, Barbara Birtles, to discuss your initial research interests before submitting an application.  Once a suitable academic has been identified, arrangements will be made for a telephone conversation or meeting to disucss your research in detail.  Providing your research interests can be supported by an appropriate supervisor, you would then be requested to submit a formal application.

The School’s Research Office will then contact you to arrange an interview.

Step-by-Step outline of the application process:

Complete online enquiry form

  • Receive brochure information pack
  • Review research currently being undertaken within the School, by visiting our Research Opportunities page and our Publications Database
  • Complete first draft of your Research Outline:
    • This should be structured according to our guidelines, taking into account ‘Points to consider’
    • Please discuss the Research Outline with your potential supervisor, the Programme Manager will identify possible academics to approach
  • Submit final Research Outline
  • Submit completed Application Form - Word or Application Form - pdf – along with:
    • £50.00 application fee (VAT inclusive)
    • 2 references
      • 1 business
      • 1 academic
    • copies of degree certificates
    • Current CV
    • IELTS if applicable (7 overall and minimum writing score of 6.0)
    • The University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations: Certificate of Advanced English or Certificate of Proficiency in English Grades A, B or C (See www.cambridgeesol.org)
