Programme Content and Structure
The programme contains 11 residential weeks over four-years, providing the structure and support to ensure that researchers continue to progress. Year 1 comprises four separate 5-day modules focusing on Research Methodology. Modules are co-ordinated and delivered at Cranfield School of Management. The research training and researcher development input is structured into weekly blocks enabling working together for a concentrated period.
The Research Methodology Course is designed to develop and optimise your research capability by leveraging the wealth of knowledge and resources available at Cranfield. Included are five Elements:
1. Subject Knowledge
2. Research Methodology and Methods
3. Engagement, Influence and Impact
4. Personal and Professional Development
5. Governance and Organization
Year 2 comprises of three separate 5-day modules with Years 3-4 comprising of two modules, focusing on in-depth methodologies, writing, personal development and the viva, plus end of year progress meetings with your supervisory panel. Additional input is tailored to meet individual study requirements.
DBA researchers are required to attend all residential weeks at Cranfield School of Management.
The expected time commitment from DBA researchers (in addition to the residential weeks) is approximately 15-20 hours per week.
Year 1 dates for the 2013-2017 intake are:
- Week 1: 30 September – 04 October 2013 (Induction Week)
- Week 2: 25-29 November 2013
- Week 3: 27-31 January 2014
- Week 4: 19-23 May 2014
