The International Centre for Women Leaders is seeking Doctoral Students
Our international reputation, as the leading UK centre of expertise on gender and leadership issues, is underpinned by our unique research base.
Our internationally renowned research highlights the business case for women on boards, as well as seeking a better understanding of the reasons for women’s general lack of progress to the top across all sectors. We work closely with major corporations, government departments (Business Innovation & Skills [BIS], Government Equalities Office [GEO]) and public bodies (Confederation of British Industry, Equality & Human Rights Commission, Opportunity Now, Working Families) and are asked to contribute to various think-tanks on women in leadership around the world, including at the United Nations.
PhD topics include:
The gendered role of social capital in senior appointment processes; Developing female leaders in the Middle East; Gendered perspectives on political development; Identity work of senior ethnic minority managers, Executive search consultants’ social capital and the appointment of female directors; Individual roles on corporate boards; The importance of role models for female executives in investment banking; Flexible working and work life balance at managerial levels.
