Student Profile

Executive Doctorate profile

An Executive Doctorate candidate typically:

  • works as a senior manager, CEO or consultant and has several years’ experience at a senior level
  • expects to stay in his/her managerial or consulting career but may be interested to undertake part-time positions in academic institutions
  • is motivated to pursue the degree by a desire to stand back from his/her working role, reflect on a critical management issue and carry out in-depth research to solve the issue or problem.  The Executive Doctorate makes a contribution to knowledge in the context of practice.

Many people undertake this degree at a critical point in their career, enabling them to change course or to access more senior positions.   The experience gives them a higher intellectual platform from which to develop capability beyond that normally attainable through work experience alone.
