Part one and two of the programme are assessed independently and you must pass both parts to qualify for the MBA degree. In part one, the individual assessment generally takes the form of an examination and these are timetabled at the end of each term. The majority of the elective themes in part two are assessed by group and individual projects. Written projects come in a variety of forms: individual essays, group reports and 'Written Analysis of a Case' (WAC) assignments. A WAC is a business report based on a case study which requires an integrated, rather than a functional solution. The WACs are set under strict conditions of time and length and are designed to teach you the skill of business report writing under time pressure. During part one you will do four WACs, two in each term. Modes of study The Cranfield MBA is offered as a Full-time programme, and as an Executive programme with two different study options - Part-time and Modular, so you can choose the mode of study that suits you best. The programme content is the same whichever option you choose and the modules are taught by the same experienced teaching faculty. Full-time MBA Executive MBA Modes of study Full-time MBA A one-year programme with four terms of teaching and a similar volume of learning content to the traditional two-year programmes. The Full-time MBA programme starts in September each year and has an intake of up to 150 students. Modes of study Executive MBA A two-year programme which allows you to study while continuing to work. Classes take place at Cranfield on 14 weekends - all day Friday and Saturday, plus four one-week residential periods each year. The programme starts in January and has a combined intake (Part-time and Modular) of up to 100 students. When timetabling allows, our Part-time and Modular students study together so they are able to benefit from the input of a larger group of students during lectures. Which mode of study is right for me? Full-time MBA The Full-time MBA is an intensive one-year programme which means that you are out of the workforce for the shortest possible time. Our full-time programme is a good option if you want to make a significant change in your career in the short-term – for example if you want to change function, industry or even both. By studying the MBA full-time you are able to immerse yourself fully in your studies without the distractions of balancing the demands of a job. Due to the time commitment required, you would not be able to study and continue to work at the same time so you should be able to support yourself financially for the year. Executive MBA Our Executive MBA allows you to study while you continue to work. It is a good option if you are looking to advance your career in your current organisation in the short-term, perhaps moving jobs within 3 years of graduation. Studying our Executive MBA programme will allow you to build on your current experience and apply your knowledge immediately back in the workplace. If you would need to travel a long distance for lectures at Cranfield, you may find that the Modular format would suit you best, rather than having to commit to fortnightly attendance on the Part-time option. Alternatively, you may find that you cannot commit to block attendance and so weekend attendance on the Part-time programme would be your preferred option. Remember that if you are sponsored, you are likely to be required to remain with your organisation, at least in the short-term. Our career development team will work with you and your organisation to formulate your career development plan and will support your succession planning with senior management, but they will not be able to help you actively search for a new job.
