Project Finance

Project Finance

Introduces useful tools that can be applied by project managers to operate project-based financing.

Duration: 20 minutes

Projects are profitable if they make money from the agreed price and agreed scope. Lessons from history can help us develop an ability to accurately estimate project costings. However, the opportunities to miscalculate project costings abound. As with all projects, the financial aspects of contracting involve three core elements: calculating the risk involved in financing the project; defining the boundaries or scope of the project; and carefully forecasting the predicted cash flow resulting from the project or project outcomes. To do this successfully requires a detailed understanding of the drivers of input costs. This e-learning module will introduce several useful tools that can be applied by project managers to operate project-based financing.

By the end of this module learners will be able to:

  • Define the risk adjustment technique of 'sensitivity analysis'
  • Understand a 'Monte Carlo Simulation'
  • Develop boundaries for a particular project and take control of project finance
